My 1999 Johnson 115 seems to run a steady stream out the "peehole" at idle, but set off the "hot" alarm, and shut itself down when operating at WOT. Should a new impeller fix the problem, and if so, any tips on doing this? My last impeller job was on a 15HP Seaking, back in the early '80's.

I don't know that engine well enough to tell you exactly how to do it...However, yes, that should fix the problem...If it doesn't it might be a thermostat..If the impeller hasn't been changed in a while (a year or longer), it's time to change it...

Welcome to TFF, Lowbass and Ballistic.
Swap out the whole waterpump. Get the kit with the stainless plate and housing. Like they said, it's not a tough job. Just buy a manual and take your time.

Thanks for all the help guys! I ordered a BRP(omc) impeller kit with housing, and a Johnson manual, both for just over $100 delivered.

If it's like my older model, you need to PAY attention to what the manual says about the shift rod. Mine is a hard to get to bolt underneath the carbs, yours may be different.
