I was there this past week-end, went up river past the 99-bridge, caught about 18 fish, best 5 went for about 20#.

I stayed with the "Jig".

BassSAT...

What areas did you cover above the 99 bridge. What was the water color like. Any other basic info would be appreciated.

Going tomorrow. I am guessing that the frog bite should be good first thing in the morning. Anyone had a good grass-punching bite out there? Last year this time you could smoke them on a 1 1/2 ounce jig, and 1 ounce T-rigged creature bait.

Thanks sundance-went yesterday morning and it was slow for me overall. Caught a few nice fish early in the mouth of Possum, on spinnerbaits right at the edge of the grass. Tried punching through with a creature bait for some time, but not one bite that way.

Can you get to the bridge or is the grass too thick? thought about going on Wednesday this week.

You mean the bridge in Possum? If thats the case, then yes, you can....grass is pretty thick on the other side though. The water is very clear back there.

I had heard that the grass was so thick in Possum that you couldn't get to the bridge.
Got a new boat and thought about fishing wednesday if the weather holds.

Found this one on the end of my rod last week at Mathis.

Yeah southtexas, I had the same results. Fished Friday for about five hours and only luck was on a spinnerbait bite. Fish seem to be scattered, caught most fish back in the creeks. Could not get a grass bite going at all. Biggest went right at six lbs, but pretty lame trip for this time of year.

I would guess a little over 7. I caught another 4 and a 3. Had 4 bites and caught 3 of them.

Fished choke hard on Wednesday. All my fish came on worms and my partners fish came on spinner bait. We ended up with 6 that ranged 2 to 4 pounds. The high pressure was on us and that makes it tough. We probably caught 4 or 5 more dinks.

I almost think there is TOO much grass in Choke.

I would agree (on the grass comment), too big of a playground. The grass was scatterred when I was there, no real defined edge, which I think might be why the grass bited was so lame.

I prefer Choke in the spring when there isn't so much darn grass in it. Little easier to get a pattern when there isn't 10,000 acres of matted grass.

I agree with you guys 110% on the grass. I have been fishing Choke somewhat frequently for about 18 months now and its hard to narrow down to productive water when literally every yard of the entire bank of the entire lake is matted hydrilla, or at least i havent figured out how to yet. I have had my best luck in the early spring when its just starting to come out. Then, when you find some, there are usually fish on it. I wouldnt mind if some of it didnt come back next year.

I hear ya, but sometimes I gotta think about what kind of fish are hanging around back there undisturbed, getting ready for spawn, then I don't hate it that much. Does make finding them pretty tough, though, agree 100% on that.

We had nothin last weekend... Got there late (10AM) due to a blow out... Anyway, couldn't get the fish to bite ANYTHING in the stumps OR the grass... We caught nothing... Been a while since I went to choke and caught nothin...

I am stranded 'til I replace 2 more trailer tires... sheesh...

choke can be frustrating sometimes. i have caught a bunch, then three weeks later can't buy a bite. its definately not a gimmee for big fish, even though they are there.
