Y'all, I'm officially out, again! not enough vac. time to do the trip and go to Ca. for Christmas.
BUT, Capt. Cuda is still very much in the game, just taking a small hiatus. Charlie's friend Greg has already bought my spot,
but nontheless, I'll sure miss seeing & fishing next to y'all!










Maybe I'll hook up w/ Jerry & take him to Venice..........

Thanks to Dave for documenting my Tuna Butt Whuppin.. only fish that ever made me give in for a pass off.

In that Video I had hooked a 125# Yellow Fin.. I think the hook pulled and got into it's eye socket the first time I got it to the top around the 5-7 minute mark. It then took about 400 yds of line out and ran up and down the boat until I got it back in then ran off another 200 yds for 2 more trips up and down the boat.. 5 times in all! I had a POS plate and a makeshift bargain harness then making it a real battle using just my arms.

When I handed the rod to Tony my hands were asleep.. did not want to loose the Tiagra or the Tuna! 23# of drag was just too much after about 13 minutes of constant pull. I did manange too hook 8 boat 5 and all were over 80# 3 took all but the backing over 1380ft straight down no stoping them... one cut me off on the boat hull when I slipped on the cast net and fell trying to beat it around to the pulpit.

Of course now that I have built a custom plate and harness you can hang a battery off... all we get into is 70# fish which I whipped with my 200000 FA Stella 7ft Bar Bar Tackle Spinner rod combo in no time.



On Tuna 6

I bottom fished with my Islanders DragonFly 400 gram jig rod and Avet LX 6/3 last time. I did not know how stout that rig was until I hung something real big on the bottom. I got the fish half way up and the line went slack.. reeled in my rig and the hook was straightened out!

Now I'm ready for the TFF Tuna Tango #7

Everyone should of gotten Willie's Email today about the trip cancelling. Above is the only reason I've seen on the web anywhere. Hopefully we just push the trip into the January or Feburary time frame. Were (North Texas Folks)are not going thru what the folks on the coast are going thru right now so two more months is nothing. I can just buy more gear.

i am up for waiting till the new year but from what i am seeing on the intergossip the Big-E might be going thru a retrofit soon to turn it into a crew boat so if we do wait till next year it will probably be on a different boat which doesnt bother me. but i sure hate to see the Big-E stop taking deep sea charters out.
I guess we wait to see what Willie and the boys at TOO come up with for options and go from there. i am already working on a backup plan to use the vacation days for a redfishing trip to LLM...

I am waiting on my phone to ring on the redfish trip. Texas Instruments is slow so I have to take 7 days off in the 4th qtr. Have cash will travel. I didnt see you at my Bday party!!! I have my boat ready for some fishing on lewisville if you can show me where to catch some crappie. Give me a shout. As far as the trip. I can make whenever work I hope.

I need to hit up some friends to go out soon also. Gas being at 1.91 around the corner from the house makes a big impact on how much a trip costs. Too bad the diesel isnt that cheap yet...

BTW if I didnt tell you, That Cow in PV was caught on the Tiburon converted TLD II and the SkeeterRonnie Special rod by bar bar.

i think bellyup is the guy that tib'd that reel. lives in tyler. Tom has its twin down in Port A. awesome reel. Bar Bar rods makes some mean meat sticks too!

bellyup put it together, and i dont think ever used it. I bought it, and dont think I caught anything with it?? cant remember (one trip). i did use it to help run fence though... used the line to run from end post to end post... LOL!!
