I can remember Falcon being slightly above full pool,Amistad was full as well.I think it was the late 80s or early 90s.The water in Falcon was crystal clear from the salanius at the dam to the hedonia up the river, and all the way past the old town in the salado as well.Falcon at full pool again? I didnt think it would happen. If it does fill up and hold for a couple years I think it will almost be scary how good the fishing will be.Falcon had hydrilla in it back then especially in the lower end of the lake. Not just a few patches here and there either. It was every where and matted up pretty much year round.

Are the fish moving shallow with the rising water on Amistad as well? We haven't heard how the fishing has been with all of the rising water.

The San Antonio newspaper reported today that a presideo county official stated that the rio concho must shed 30 trillion gallons of water before the dams and flood control systems can return to normal...I dont know where he got the number 30 trillion but if he is anywhere close i dont see how both Lakes will not fill up and remain that way for quite sometime.According to my math which is highly suspect I admit....I think that 30 trillion gallons of water = 92,066,619.4 acre feet.(92 million).I dont how much that is but it sounds like a lot.

For easy figuring Falcon at 20 low at 86,000 acres thats 1,720,000 acre ft of water needed. Amistad at 10 ft 69,000 acres 690,000 acre ft needed. Total of 2,410,000 acre ft to fill both that still alot left. Amazing.

More rain in the Leon watershed last week. Go to the bass fishing section and look at that video. THAT is what is coming to us. We have no choice but to fill up BOTH lakes. I agree James. If Mexico was so worried about their lakes (they knew after the first tropical storm) why didn't they start releasing when they saw the second one coming. Unbelievable. Falcon should be full right now and us catching the water. Par for the course.

The fishing was really tough thish weekend. There were two or three big tournaments there, and my partner and I talked to dozens of anglers that were packing up and going home. A lot of them didn't even weigh in a single fish. Don't let that stop anyone from going down though because there were still some big fish to be caught. One of the buys in our tournament caught an 11 pounder, and she sure did look healthy!
Go and enjoy the water. A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

There is a story in a newspaper called southwest texas Live, which suggest that the powers that be will flood parts of lower Del Rio instead of letting the lake level at Amistad exceed 1117.Im still trying to figure out how to post a link on here.http://swtexaslive.com/node/7629

I can remember "back in the day" when both were full !!! That was back in the early to mid 90's. Falcon had a ton of grass in it on the south end and Amistad had NONE. Placed 2nd in a regional money tournament at Amistad with barely over 9 LBS back then !!! Bill@S.O.B www.soblures.com

Uhhuh ! I knew that dadgum treaty would screw things up. So much for wishful thinking. I guess Mexico will owe us water forever the way that reads. I told that politician I first heard that from that they should enforce it. Now the water comes and they STILL don't want to. Figures. Guess I should tell IWBC what I did the politician. It wasn't very nice either. Oh well.

1114.78 looks like it going up almost a foot a day... A little over 2 feet to full pool!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are headed there this weekend and have never seen it at this level, I'll bet it is beautiful; however, I like it when it is 25-35' low....

Last weekend we went past marker 28 into the muddy water and left quickly because of the debris in the water.

It appears that a big increase in water outlet from Amistad will be averted.. And in a couple of days the inlet will match or be less than the outlet.. Of course there is no telling what the powers that be will do with the water.. You guys are right at full and Falcon is 13.5 feet low.. And we thank you for passing along the water.. With any luck we can get up to about 10' or higher..
If the management is on the ball they should probably drop Amistad to about 6 or 8 feet from full just in case.. You never know what Mother Nature has in store..
That is a bald faced recommendation.. Besides.. We have plenty of room for the water.. And I want to be standing on a lot of Huisache blooms in the bottom of the boat when I am fishing this spring.. I love thorns..
But no matter the case, it has been quite a ride this summer watching the water rise on both lakes.. It will make fishing a little tough for a while but it will be worth the wait..
Falcon is looking great and I am sure Amistad loks Awesome! That's a lot of water!
See you on the lake!
James
