Anybody know anything about the fishing in the lakes in Breckenridge Park in Richardson?

welcome to the forum kestrel welcome
i fished there a couple of days ago...in the afternoon with a couple of friends...they each caught one, i didn't, but they caught bluegills and crappies. There might be other fishes in there, but it might have been too hot for them when i went. I've heard that there are Largemouths in there though. Oh yeah, that lake at Breckenridge Park is catch and release only.

I think I will check at the park office, because there are actually 3 lakes in that park. TPWD has stocked all 3. There are two lakes right under Renner rd, and the main lake. I hope they aren't all catch and release! Thanks for the info!

OK, I have fished the Breckenridge Park lakes about 4 times now. The big main lake I have only fished once, circled the whole lake using topwater,Storm plastics, natural baits. Got 1 nice crappie that hit the Storm medium shad. The west pond under Renner road has skunked me to the point that I won't fish it anymore. I believe it's being fished out, regardless of rules, as I've talked to a few people there and they've watched people catch and dump'em in a bucket. The east pond that you have to take a short hike to get to has fish, caught a couple of small LMB today, nary a bite from any catfish. I watched a lot of fish hitting topwater to eat, but they didn't like a darn thing I threw at them. Used a couple size torpedos, spinnerbaits, chug bug, frog, Storm shad, they only seemed to like what nature was providing. The 2 small LMB chomped the medium Storm shad. ( I love Storm's baits!)
Oh, also pulled out and cut up 3 illegal limb lines from the east pond one day and reported it to Richardson's Parks dept.
That's the report for those ponds, not great unless you can reach the middle of the east pond and hit on what they like. Some big carp in there too.
