I tied up some white green weenies a while back, but figured they should be called white castles.

I finally fished one yesterday and landed 21 fish, including 5 baby bass. One was a healthy 7 inches.

I only fished one fly - no trees were decorated.

I've been using a Nor-Vise automatic bobbin for about a month. Unfortunately I didn't have a spare spool for the white thread. I am definitely spoiled by the nor-bobbin. I didn't like using the old bobbin at all. I hope those new spools get here soon.

I tied a few green weenies way back in the winter...I guess I didn't do such a hot job because where I used them the fish seemed suspicious of them. (overly fished area though) Somebody on here made them in yellow, and called them yellow submarines...I need to make a couple. I keep forgetting.

That was me with the Yellow Submarines. I figure that if these guys use a different name for different color weenies, I should do the same.

I also tied a Purple Haze, an Olive Drab, and a Brown I Don't Want to Get Moderated.

Okay Grasshopper, I tied a couple of Yellow Submarines. I may try to tye a couple in a tan color as well. Did you use a plain hook, or a jig head? I have very few 1/124 jig heads, I was told you need to use that. But when I looked online it didn't say anything about jig heads. SO, I tied a couple in each, and will see if there is any response. I just may try to make a corn jig too, in case that is attractive to some fish here. I may throw out some corn in an area I fish, and see what happens. The Yellow Submarine, or the Corn fly...out to be a big hit then...I hope...hehehe.

Orange Sherbet is on the way...lol...no I'm kidding. Your name is better, but I don't know if they like orange too well. Ask Grasshopper to test that one out. I did manage to make some cool looking corn flies though. I made some weightless, and some with some lead weight wraps. I hope the fish are fooled by 'em...who knows maybe I can latch on to a carp that way...hehehe.

I haven't tried them with jig heads. I've been concentrating on the 2wt rod and wasn't able to cast a 1/120 cap spider very well.

I see some orange ultra chenille on the desk, guess I'll tie up some Orange Sunshines.

They like orange. Earlier this year I was tying 1/32 Peacock Willie jigs for the UL rig. They had white marabou with polar flash tails and peacock hurl for the body. Then I tied some with white and orange in the tail. These proved to be popular as well.

Orange Sunshines have been tied.

Since I got some new hackle, how about a Griffin's Weenie? Or a tailed Griffin's Gnat? Pictures at 11.

Well I tried a little spider, threw out corn and used my corn fly...I did get a big bite, but lost it, I tried a Lil' Joe Streamer, a gnat looking fly...and a few more...cannot think of it. The one that they finally took was a white small popper. I think it is because it was light colored like the mayfly was, and on top. I also got some bites on the yellow spider...a couple of bites...they just were not committing. (I am speaking of my Martin Creek trip yesterday evening. They close the park by ten, and I wanted to make sure I left in plenty of time so I did not get locked in there!) I saw about twenty people total fishing. I was on the bank fishing when I heard a little girl say I got one! But that was it besides the man with the bass, and my one bream. I had a mayfly in my truck, I hope he is still in there today. I am gonna get him out if he is still there, and see if I can make a fly that looks like that particular mayfly. It is the same kind I saw one night at Lake Bob Sandlin. Very light, almost a pale yellow. These were much bigger mayflies than I saw at Bob Sandlin though.

Still working on the photography. I got a little more stability with an el-cheapo table-top tripod. You get what you pay for - I had to epoxy one leg already.

Here is a pair of Grizzly Little-bites I tied yesterday.

They were already tied, I was just speculating on a name. I ended up staying with the weenie theme and played on a 7-11 offering.

Speaking of which, my fly waste container is getting full. It must be time for a Smokey Big-bite.

Nice flies! I had one like that last night, and put it on my fly patch, and today it was gone. Those little flies can sometimes do that. Maybe I should throw my flies in a can or something till I get them home...and then dry them out. The big flies stay on, even most small ones...but the tiny ones take flight now and then. I hope nobody sits on one in the back of my truck!!

Orange works! The 2nd pic should show why it works.

These were the best out of a dozen - nice 5-6 inch gills. Giddy-up!

I have never done too well with orange, except for crappie... young ones will eat any color they find, they are not choosy at all.

Oops, I forgot...stocked trout like orange.
