Scott, Hybrid Blue Gill are cross between Blue Gill and Green Sunfish.
They are very popular in some parts of the country and noted for fast growth, easy to catch, and popular for kid’s fish.

Copper Nose Blue Gill are a Florida species that grow as large or larger than native BlueGllls or Hybrids, and prettier IMO.
Note the prominent copper bar on nose

My favorite pond fish – next to HSB ... grin

Wow George,
That fish is broad. I bet they put up a good fight when they get sideway's to you.

Badassbaits,
Nice fish.

I like to catch fish, whatever is where I can get to to do some fishing.

That being said, I've not had more fun that out on Texoma for stripers or Cedar Creek hitting the docks at night for sandies and wipers.

With the weather cooling off the water will follow and I'm ready to go!

If you use Spiderwire as a leader and you get your fly hooked on underwater atructure, not only will you lose your fly, but you will probably break off the end of your flyline because the Spiderwire will not break. I know from experiencing this very thing.

Greetings from Wilson, WY, y'all. Caught 16 or 17 trout in the last couple days and hoping to get some really great fishing, and some pics too, tomorrow in Idaho. Thanks to all for good advice. I too love fishing on Texoma; the stripers and hybrids are awesome fun to catch. I'm having a great time with the LMB too - it's just all new to me. Ponds with LMB are 5 mins from my house; Texoma's an hour - so guess where I'll do most of my fishing?

As before y'all have given me great advice and I'm appreciative. Sounds like I'll be skipping the spiderwire. Also sounds like I'll be really focused on getting a really good, strong strip-set.

By the way, Dave, I couldn't agree more about playing them quickly and cutting 'em loose fast.

Jack, with ponds of big bas nearby it would be awfully hard to justify tearing away to go elsewhere; although I know I eventually would.
