I was just wondering how far yall have to go off shore to catch grouper in Texas.Here we have to go 25 to 30 miles.

Depends on the port. It gets deep alot faster south of Freeport than it does at Sabine.

30 miles is less than 100' of water on the upper coast. I've caught some at 55 miles and know of others who have caught big gag's in nearer than that but not often.

I fish out port aransas and about 70 miles is the best bet for grouper.
