What's wrong with the steering cables? Does anything else not work? I see it needs seats and carpet. Are there anysoft spots in it? How is the transom?
I don't know for sure that the steering cables need to be replaced but last time I had it out I was running across the lake and when I tried to turn it wouldn't. When I got to looking at the steering wheel trying to figure it out I noticed some broken pieces on the part of the steering wheel that holds it to the dash. As I started moving those pieces the steering wheel pretty much fell off. The boat shop told me that maybe the cables where seized up causing the steering wheel to brake. They said that would be the worst case scenario and be between $300-$400 for that or about $100 if it is just the steering wheel. The wires from the trolling motor to the batteries needs to be redone which would be an easy fix if I didn't weight 325 pounds. (Haha) There aren't any soft spots that I have noticed and the transom is strong. I haven't ever hit anything with it and it is always stored with a transom bar. The carpet was in a lot better shape up until about a year ago. I had a motorcycle wreck that had me laid up unable to do anything for several months and the boat was being used several times a week and wasn't getting covered. And after the wreck I was unable to cover it and that is when it got most of the damage to the interior.
I was planning on buying this rig as a winter project. I subsequently purchased a hull and now need a project motor. If anyone is looking for a Skeeter project boat (without the motor), perhaps we can make an offer to help this guy.
I have seen a couple guys looking purely for a hull.
