Ok I don't really care for most of the Revo series but..... I ran across this and Academy should price match it.

Those are good prices on a pretty good reel. I have several Revos including two S models. Caught some pretty good bass on them this year and real smooth.

Whats wrong with the Revo S?

I sure did like the Revos I played with at Southwest.

I like the Revo S for small or shallow diving crankbaits, jerk baits, spinnerbaits, etc. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't have as much power as my other 6+:1 reels for pulling big deep and medium cranks.

other than the longer handle, I notice no difference in power with the Inshore vs. the Revo S. Other than the SX and STX having a bearing supported levelwind, there's not a lot of functional difference in the 3.

I like the S very much.

I don't have any other Revo's to compare it with. I'm saying it seems to have less power than my 5500c'4s or 4500C4s when pulling the big cranks. I like it a lot for the purposes I use it.

I was just saying that for comparison amongst the Revo line because it's not like the S is some red headed step child of the series (also, I'm not saying you said that). Even though it's the cheapest, it still has the key components of the more expensive SX and STX (drag, gearing, and the 5 what I call "key" bearings of the Revo series).

Deep cranks put a lot of stress on any reel and are a great way to "feel out" new reels. I can't stand 7:1 reels for their lack of torque. I'd rather have a slower reel any day, but I like fishing a lot of moving baits like cranks and spinnerbaits.

One thing I'd like to do is put the Revo Winch's gear set in one of my Revo S's.

The S is dropping in prices. A couple of the Academys I have been in are marking them down to $99 and $89. I bought one for $89 and have used it on the last 7-8 trips. It is a smooth reel and cast very well, the only thing on my deck that will out cast it is my Revo SX. I just hope they start marking down the SXs some day.

I have 2 and love the s*** outta them. I'm all over this like stink on a monkey... assuming I can find any. Would BPS price match? I need some stuff anyway from there and would love to pick up a couple of these.

I know cabelas does -- I have heard that BPS can be a pain with that. Academy might price match as well but I am not sure./

At BPS, it dependes on which saleman you get and whether the competitor has the item in stock. One guy at BPS price matched a reel for me without question but when Academy had the Curado's on sale, the one I talked to went to the front of the store and called Academy. Of course, they were out of stock and he wouldn't price match, said that if Academy had it in stock, then he would price match.

None of that hassel at Cabelas--they are just happy to get your business.

Never had a problem with price match at BPS, even when Academy had Bandits for 1.50 last year.
