Me and my cousin fished Falcon this past saturday. We began around 6:30 am and finished about 12 pm, noon.
We started off shallow on a rocky point with heavy brush. My cousin began with a buzz bait and I started with a senko fished wacky style. We concentrated in depths of about 2-8 ft.
The buzzbait produced 4 nice fish, but the wacky style worms landed more and the biggest fish. My cousin caught the largest fish at about 6 lbs. And, I lost a real good one that broke me off on the wacky style as well. This fish would have been 8 lbs easy. I was also broke off 2 other times, once while swinging a 3 lber into the boat, and the other was on a hook set. I never break off, which makes me feel real suspect towards the line I was using, maybee a bad spool!
The fishing really slowed down around 9:30, and became down right tough!! We maybee caught 3 fish after this period, two on the wacky, and one on a crankbait in about 9 ft of water. We continued to target rocky points, I always do well on Falcon this way, and targeted depths of 6-14 ft. However, the bite just vanished. We might have been able to do well on offshore deep structure, but I do not know where alot of these spots are, and we had to leave by about noon.
Overall, it was a decent day but not my best on Falcon. We probably landed about 15 fish, with a 3 lb avg., and the largest landed was 6 lbs. However, it would have been a much better trip if that big one did not break me off. Seriously, I have seen and caught big fish and this was as good as they come, it was a real bummer. If you are going to fish Falcon right now, I would suggest hitting it early, the bite is good early but really slowed down by late morning. Unless you know some deep water honey holes!!!
