Looking to take advantage of employee pricing and rebates and trade in my 05 Yukon with a 5.3V8 for an 08 Yukon with a 4.8 V8. Will I notice a difference when towing and if so are their any serious drawbacks? what kind of milage might I expect when towing? Any advise before Monday would be helpful. Thanks

Tim stick with the 5.3l,it gets better fuel mileage and tows better.the 4.8l will pull it but you will notice it does not do it like the 5.3l and your not going to save anything by going to the smaller motor.

5.3. Don't forget about tax-write off too. If you use this for business. If the vehicle qualifies, you can write off $25000 the first year, then the balance over the next four years. It is called the accelerated depreciation under tax code 179.
I've had both engines and the 5.3 is the way to go. The 5.3 is a multi displacement that knocks down to fewer cylinders going down the hwy. The 4.8 does not have that function and I think it's fine for driving but for towing I found it gutless. My boat would pull my Yukon down going up the smallest hills when I Had the 4.8 model. When I upgraded to the 5.3 I also got about 3 mpg better towing than with the 4.8. Now Momma drives the gasser and I pull everything with my Duramax and I forget sometimes I'm towing anything.
