I AM JUST GAUGING INTEREST! That being said, I'm about to pull the trigger on another boat. I currently own a 17' Grumman square stern canoe that is powered by a 3.5HP Tohatsu. This has been my white bass fishing machine in the spring, and Guadalupe River transport at all other times of the year. Canoe (85lbs)/motor (27lbs) are 4 years old and very well taken care of. The motor is a 2 stroke and runs great, the canoe is has a few minor dents but no cracks or leaks. Grumman builds a great canoe that will outlast most of their owners. I spent 1200 on the canoe and 700.00 on the motor when they were bought new, and yes I have the titles for both. I'm thinkin 1000.00 for both and was just wondering if there would be any interest out there. If I can't get 1K for both I'll probably just hang onto 'em. What say ye? Think this combo would be worth 1K?
Here is a picture of the canoe, minus the motor. We were on a float trip down the Guad, so the motor wasn't used. You might note the exteded transom. This was done to get the motor higher in the water so that it can run shallow with the motor. The motor also has a stainless steel prop guard to minimize busted shear pins. This has been a great canoe and would make someone a fine entry level boat. It will float in 5 inches of water and run in 10 inches. Lemme know what ya think!
Jacksboro, I reckon I could consider parting them both out. 450.00 for the Tohatsu, and 700.00 for the canoe. Still 1,000.00 for both. Yes, I will be letting them both go, as I will be getting my new boat soon. Both together are a fantastic fishing machine.
Hey guys, This is absolutely the lightest 3.5HP motor you'll find, since it's a 2 stroke. It is the Model M3.5B which means it has a neutral and a forward gear. At 28lbs it weighs 13lbs less than the same motor in 4 stroke. The canoe/motor combo is a dream for a lot of the rivers around here. The boat is built like a tank and will outlast whoever buys it. Both are in fantastic shape! 1000.00 for this combo is a steal. You can run this thing all day long on less than 1 gallon of gas!
TTT You guys want a boat that will get you and a friend back to where the white bass are in the spring? Well this is it! It will take you places most bigger boats won't go, and kayakers will think it's too far to paddle. I've had it below the dam at Lake Livingston with 9 gates open and it handled beautifully. It'll fish 2 guys comfortably and 3 fellas if everyone knows what they're doing. The Tohatsu is a peach of a motor and will serve whoever buys it for years to come.
I reckon there was a market for this canoe and at the price I was asking. Woulda been nice if a fellow TFFr could have bought it and seen what I was talking about. But alas, Houston's Craigslist came through. Thanks to all who responded!
