I love taking corn for the grandkids to bream fish! For one thing, they catch fish! For another, they bait their own hooks. The two girls will not bait their hook if I have a big container of worms and the boy "overbaits", hanging 5 or 6 nightcrawlers on the hook! eeks

Love the corn! I keep 3 or 4 reserve cans in the truck along with the fishing outfits for myself and the kids at all times. We stopped at Waterloo lake in Denison last week after a trip to Chuckie Cheese. The kids loved it! breakdance

Corn and a Zebco......That is how my dad and I caught our first big fish years ago. I had a Zebco 404 and we'd fish the Des Plaines River in Wheeling,IL.
Awesome !

Well, I'm a fan of corn now. I keep a bag in the freezer at work. I take a handful with me to a local pond and catch 30+ bluegill on my lunch break. The water is so clear, I don't even wait for the float to go down. When the yellow disappears, I just lift the rod and pull out the fish. I never fished that way before, lots of fun, cheap, and the bait keeps forever. (Also, no one at work knows I'm going fishing at lunch time).

Yep - corn is a golden rule! Just hit up your local Dollar General for a case or so and you are good to go.

I just confirmed that one can catch a very large snapping turtle on corn as well. I was fishing a creek, so I couldn't drag him onto the bank. I snapped my 6lb test trying to pull him out.

The only thing you have to work on if you're using corn, is your unhooking speed, because you will have another one on your line as soon as you put it back in the water

I had a can of hominy with me Sat at Lop spillway. Put right where I could see the blue gill come look at it and then pass it up. Even the dink channel cats didn't even look at but they were biting on dough bait.

hmmm

Yesterday I was fishing for bream and was really surprised when I hooked into what I knew was not a bream, but turned out to be a really nice channel cat. Tasted very good. Almost 2lbs with 1 kernel of coen and a small bream hook. Much fun.

Earlier I said I was going to try hominy. I did last week end. Little bream just looked at it and turned up their noses. I had dumped a bunch of range cubes earlier and then I dumped the can of hominy. This Saturday in the same spot I saw the first carp I have ever seen caught at the Lake of the Pines spillway. I wonder if the combo chum brought a carp or two out of hiding?

May be Grandpa. I know badassbaits caught one....from LOP spillway. I have never seen anyone catch a carp in LOP, ever. Glad to hear there is at least a couple over there, cause I need to catch one...hehehe.

Used corn today after reading this post......Awesome! I put it on a size 6 long shank hook and after I figured out how to keep the corn on the hook caught tons of bluegill and perch. What a great way to start a new fishing license year. I think I'm going to get an ultralight rod to make it more interesting.

I kill them on corn and its cheap. Buy frozen corn and keep it cold so it stays on the hook better, and use a small trout hook. Though if you see small grass hoppers step on them and use that. They don't even make it to the bottom. I kill them a Texoma and use them to catch Stripers, catfish and gar.

I too have used corn for pan-fish with some success along with a 215A Eagle Claw.
