I just purchased a new boat w/ an '05 Johnson 150. In my old boat i had a '98 150 Johnson and used Pennzoil sym/senthetic blend and it seemed to work just fine. Do i really need to use the OMC oil in this new motor or is the Pennzoil ok. The OMC is about 33.00 per gallon and the Pennzoil is about 13.00 per gallon. I the OMC is really much better is there anywhere that i can buy it in bulk to save a few $'s?

Sometimes dealers have bulk oil for the three major manufacturers--try asking a few, I bet you find one. Tex-All in San Antonio carries it for all three--about $20 per gal.

I stay with what I start with. I run OMC, non synthetic, in a 1980 model V4 Evinrude and nothing else. It likes it....therefore I like it !
