Over the last few days, the sandies have been boiling the surface chasing shad within casting distanc of the shore at White Rock. But absolutely no size at all. Has anyone ever had any success catching nicer sand bass on White Rock?

Pretty positive they were all small whites. Caught six this morning from the point at TP Hill throwing a little white/silver slab cranking it pretty fast through schools chasing shad to the surface. Just wondering if anyone has ever caught any with any size.

To be sure I looked up photos on the TX Parks and Wildlife site and yea, they were whites.

where is the best spot to fish on the main lake? I never fished on the lake before. I always fished in the creek when crappie are biting.

they are definitely sandies . and yes they are running small right now and yes there will be a time when they will look like sandies from any major lake in texas and even larger at times . you just have to be at the right place at the right time

Me too. I have never fish in the main lake...just the creek. I have a feeling that there are ton of tree stump, trash bags, tree branches, tires, boats, bicycles, lots of old fishing lines, possibly human body, car, rocks etc in there.

I think fishing from a small Johnboat might be good there.

I caught one on every cast from 12-1 today. smile I was not on the bank though. Caught them from my kayak, mid lake, between Winfrey Point and the mansions, 11 ft deep. When I was in the school my graph was completely blacked out. I would paddle past them, then drift back through, throwing a white roostertail. I caught exactly 0 keepers, and yes they were all sandies. White Rock is full of little sandbass, and when you can find them, sum bigguns too.

did it again today, caught about 50 on a roostertail. As it started to slow at about 1:30, I tied on a slab to see if there were some bigger fish under all the dinks. caught a couple slightly larger dinks, then 3 magnums in a row, then it was all over. gonna try again tommorow, this time i will start with the slab.

I was always able to find them busting shad at the north end near the foot bridge where it gets real shallow.
