My 2003 Dodge 1/2 ton still has the origional Mopar battery. I know I am taking a chance, but why should it be replaced? It still turns the engine without hesitation. The view window is green. Three or four years is supposed to be an average life for a battery.

I personally would not change it if it still is working with no problems. I would just set the money aside and be ready to replace it if it needs it. The numbers they give you are avergaes.

If it is still working no need to change it.

I replace the batteries in our four vehicle family every 4 years, regardless!

Cheap insurance that no one gets stranded at the wrong time or wrong place.

You can tell when a battery is starting to bad with age. The motor turns over slower for some time and you if you have a voltmeter the voltage starts dropping slightly lower whenever you start it.

Batteries tend to show up more during the fall/early winter as the cold gives them less power and they lose charge faster in the cold.

That is what worries me. I may wait until late Fall and replace it.

I went 7 years and 126,000 miles before I replaced the battery in my Oldsmobile Aurora...
