Don't know anything about this, but i found it on "myfishingpictures.com" and my eyeballs about popped out! Is it the angle that makes it look this big or is this sucker real? If it's real, I WANNA GO FISH THAT LAKE, WHEREVER IT IS!

Looks similar to what them bass boys do when they catch one and hold it closer to the camera to make the fish look bigger. smile lol.. It actually appears dad is holding the fish near the camera while jr. is holding the gear used to catch the fish.

Hmmmmmm that looks a little big for a bluegil/perch.. Look at the size ratio of the body to mouth compared to one of those TN bluegill, or whatever they call those monsters !! nuts

Doesn't look that unusual to me...just a nice coppernose BG. The size perception is exaggerated because the fish is held extended well away from the reference child. I'd guess its a 10 inch fish.

Looks to me like the child is not holding the fish but is holding the line to the launcher and someone else well away from the child is holding it...a deliberate attempt to distort, possibly.

A ruler/tape measure is the best reference to put in a picture...separates truth from fiction.

The guy taking the picture is grabbing the line above the shot, making the fish closer to the camera. Probably not done on purpose (unless it is from an ad for that fish gun thing!).

It's a matter of perspective and placement of the main subject in relation to background objects.

You can see the same thing here:
http://www.joe-ks.com/archives_apr2004/CamelSpider.jpg

Camel spiders (not a true spider) are not that large, but with the soldier in the background, these look as big as dinner platters.

yeah, well, i kinda figured it was the angle, but thought it was interesting anyway. Either way you slice it, it's still a dandy 'gill! Just was browsing through pics in myfishingpictures.com and saw it and thought i would post it here.

that is a pounder + if I have ever seen one. I know about the camera trick, but that can only take your catch so far. THAT IS A BIG BLUE GILL

I agree with dmunsie. Line usually doesn't float up like that. THE WHOLE GRAVITY THING doesn't allow that.

I posted this one a couple of years ago, camera angle had something to do with it, but this was a big one. Rod is bent WAY over. No problem just thumb-clamping him while removing the jig!
I should have measured/weighed it!
