'97 chev 1500 The a/c quit working, so I whacked the clutch with a 2x4 and it worked until it cycled off and didn't engage again. Is there a quick way to fix this as I have to go outta town tomorrow.

wiggle the wires that connect right at that clutch plate with the AC on- sometimes they come loose, get corroded, or the wires inside the insulation break.

Should a use a 5 lbs Ball Peen Hammer! grin

You are probably low on refrigerant. Go to Wallmart and get a can or two.

I wiggled the connector, Will WD40 or carb cleaner make this work for a few days? Also, don't think it is low on freon 'cause it's cold when it works.

WD-40 will make it slip. It sounds like the coil is bad.
