Grapevine Help

Most of my life I’ve fished for Bass on lakes all over Texas. At the beginning of the year my dad and I said lets fish just one lake and know that one lake very very well. I live in HEB so all this year we have fished Grapevine. Now I can go to Grapevine and catch almost every fish from bass to catfish in good number except crappy frown. So any little tips would be great. We are going fishing next week so I hope to post some photos of nice slabs thumb

Look from 10 to 20ft for any type of structure you should find some. Be shure to post the pics.

Try to fish as slow possibly possible. I know it sounds crazy but sometimes holding your jig dead still will intice the best bites. And lots of times after you catch one you trick a couple others to bite also.

Ya I think that’s what we’re doing wrong I’m not very good at slow presentations. Most of the time I think if it’s not moving they wont hit it. THANKS for the tips.

I'll narrow down your search from 14' to 18' of water. grin Does that help?

How about check out every major drop off? That's a little closer. If you have a Navionics chip, you can look for major depth changes in short distances.

Major creek channels (in some locations) have stuff on the sides of them. But there are a bunch of creeks leading in to coves. That could take you months - unless you have an SI. But if you had that, you may not be asking. :p

Points? Yep...good rocky points that have a sudden depth change on them.

That might help a little bit more.

There are two locations off the top of my head that are completely natural occurrences in the lake and they both hold fish. That's just off the top of my head. Both of them are rocky points/ledges with sudden depth changes. That depth change may even be between 14' and 18' deep. thumb

Good luck.

Yea but you better be carfull around those points because they come up pretty fast and it's nothing but rock. eeks Get some marker bouys and watch your sonor throw out a marker anytime you see anything worth fishing. Drop a jig down use crappie nibbles and you should catch some fish. If that doesn't work out give me a call and I'll see what I can do.

fur sure those fish will nose your bait but dont give up swim your bait in a slow siode action gradually pulling your bait away from them and stop theyll pick-up on it! This method is a good way to turn a bunch of sniffer crappie into bitters!

Good Luck!

I have to go meet with a builder at 1:00 today to see if he will give me all his listing. When I get the time I need to put the photos up. Wish me luck.
