I heard that there is a boat ramp that you can use but it's very rough. Maybe someone who has used it will chime in. I do know that the lake is good fishing....when the jet fleas aren't all over the place!

Canyon is alright. the sandies get active in January. Llanda Park has really clear water, just don't let the bass see you. up in San Marcos you have some decent bassin on the river. the water is warm year round. Lake Travis is not far but more of a recreational lake. down in S.A. theres Caleveras and Braunig but what Ive been seeing and hearing that those lakes are declinining. I would suggest just making the trip regularely down to Choke Canyon if you want to go after bass

Welcome I am new to NB as well and I have been trying to learn the water. I have fished Quenney (private launch), Canyon, and Dunlap so far, and I like Dunlap the best. But I can’t wait to fish McQuenney once all the lake lice go back to school.

Anyway the back seat is always open if you or anyone wants to hit some local water!

Good Luck!

John

I grew up in Schertz/Universal City area moved to DFW 4 years ago. I wish you guys luck I never had much luck with the lakes down there other than Calaveras and its mostly a Red Drum lake small water are pretty good though.
Yall should seriously give the Landaa Park area a try. Its crystal clear water so don't let them see you and you'll knock em down pretty good. Also don't be suprised if whatever lure that seems to be working just stops working for a good amount of time. Those bass in the Comal are crafty suckers and with the water clarity they catch on real quick to baits.
I do seriously recomend that ya'll maybe get together and take the time to give Choke Canyon a try its really the best lake other that Amistad and Falcon in South Texas. And only about an hour and a half south of San Antonio and worth the trip. just watch the gators and should probably use braided line.
My lifelong best friend and oldest fishing partner is a Choke fan so if you see a dual console Champion with a skinny, unshaven, tattood, grouchy, mid 30's white man on the front deck give him a shout and tell him he just might land a big one if he'ld quit being a sissy and buy some casting gear. Actually Mikey's a good guy and a good stick to.

Thanks guys. I am from Corpus and consider Choke my home lake. I will always go there. I fish several tournaments there each year. Gonna go to Dunlap sunday morning under the bridge. Found it last night on my way home from work.
Fish Canyon tournaments each year also. Just glad to be surrounded by lakes.
Shenanigans.............yea, we can get together sometimes and fish. I have a Skeeter 20I. It's actually the boat that Jay Yelas won the 2007 AOY (FLW) title out of, so I know it can catch fish! :-)
Are there any tournaments or club tournaments on sundays in the area? I work Saturdays and am off on Tuesdays and Sundays.
Thanks again for the info. Hope to meet some of you on the water
Robert
