When I owned a 20' pontoon boat I usually fished alone. I always had my life jacket on when the boat was moving. If I was anchored I took it off but it was draped over my seat. I got stopped by the GW and had the jacket on at the time and showed him 10 or 12 more in the storage compartment. I was given a warning for having no throwable device.
Ok fine that is the law and a good one.
The illogical part is having a throwable device on board when I am the only occupant of the vessel. If I fall overboard, who is going to throw the cushion to me?

I dont doubt it Gpa, thats funny. I think part of the concept behind the throwable lifejacket law is to be able to help others in distress as well.

Did you not have an anchor? Because if I'm in need of help, I expect that is what I'll see being used as the throwable device...

Gotta have a throwable gramps its the law. Does that apply to inflatable paddle powered 8' pontoon? I'd have to tow it on a rope.
