Last year we had to have the cam sensor replaced on my company truck, then along came a recall. If anyone has had to replace the cam sensor in the 7.3 Diesel Fords, not under recall, you can get your money back for the repair. You have to have the dealer who replaced the cam sensor verify that he installed the right one, and then have him submit the paperwork to Ford. We have almost $500 coming back.

I had to have mine replaced. But lucky for me it was within that 100,000 mile warranty. So it didn't cost me anything. That was on a 02 F250. I guess no need to have them pull the one I have out and replace becuase it's been fine every since then.

Depending on when they did it, they might have replaced the old one with another old one. You might want to stop by and have the dealer verify the correct one is installed. Dealer says it takes about 2 hours.

That's their warranty time. I'm sure they get a little cut from Papa Ford. Anyway, they charged us about $500 to fix it the first time, then, they wanted to verify that it had been fixed for recall purposes. That's when I decided to get the money back for the company. A bit of a pain, but what the heck, that might be part of my bonus this year....

The new sensor is gray, the original one is black. The old one used to retail for around 180.00. The new gray one since ford is paying for it is around 20.00. Doesn't make sense.
