This rain is killing me. I have not got to fish in two weeks because of it. I cant remember the last time a week went by without me fishing, let alone two!!
I live outside of Corpus Christi and it has been raining every day non stop since last weekend. Im talking heavy rains, not showers. It poors several times a day for hours each time. Lightning and thunder included.
The heavy rains have really muddied up the water as well. I live on the Nueces River, and though it is always stained where I am at, it has now been turned into the nastiest brownish red color I have ever seen. Im sure that Mathis and Choke have been affected by the rain and runoff as well. In my opinion, the runoff and stirred up water from days of heavy rain, scatter the fish and make conditions tough.
This morning I woke up at 5 am, and since it was not raining, I decided to grab my dad and try to have a little session at Mathis. However, on the short trip over to Mathis it began to spinkle. When we got to the ramp there were bad thunderheads everywhere. I was ready to give it a go, but the old man didnt want to chance getting wet. I was pretty sure that the water was pretty mucked up so I gave in and we went home.
Im going to give it a try on Wed. if things dry up a bit. I would like to go to Falcon or maybee Choke, if things are dry by next weekend.
