I am planning on making a few trips to Cooper this weekend if the weather holds out. Anybody else going?

I would be more tempted to if I knew more about the lake. It's a great lake and the boat traffic is minimal, but we didn't have much success on our last trip.

Maybe I should give it a try with someone who knows the lake better.

I don't know the lake to well but your more than welcome to join me if you want. i hate fishing early in the morning and that's the only time i can stand to fish lewisville. It's only 70 miles from McKinney for me so i have been wanting to go for a while.

Just a guess here but with all the rain north Texas got this week, Cooper will probably be muddy and have a lot of debris floating around.

We didnt get that much rain and the lake only came up a little over an inch.

in the colder months, the lake tends to stay off colored longer when there is no vegatation to filter the water. Right now there is hydrilla and all kinds of bushes that keep the water pretty clean (by Cooper standards).

The debris you saw was from the lake being so low and rising so fast. The rain that pushed all that debris in the lake was a 22 inch rain. Since then, some of the smaller rains have resulted in floating debris due to that first rain. There is not tons of floating debris everytime it rains.

that reminds me...there is one stump on the north end of the dam that is sticking out of the water 6inches. Look out if you are in that area

How about September 27th? woot
We might be able to pick up a few straglers by then.

Does anyone know if that date would conflict with any of the sandbass tournaments, or take a soldier fishing, etc.?

It does not conflict with the TXSBHA tournaments. Not sure about the take a soldier fishing.
