I went to Houston Monday and got to visit iFly Anglers Edge shop and pick up some deer hair in colors I didn't have...also some different popper bodies, here are a few samples..I have high hopes for the 2 legged diver with the upside down hook.

Mike those look beautiful. I want to know how they work now, so as soon as the weather clears...you need to try them out and tell us what the bass think about them!

Let us know how you like them... they'll catch fish... but I got skeered a couple years ago and stopped putting heavy things like rabbit or lots of rubber in my flies... and haven't found that I catch any less fish. But it sure is easier to cast something with a craft fur or feather tail than waterlogged bunny!!!!!

BTW your flies are HOT.

Robin; the one with the long tail would go very will with my caddo colors, can we make it for a 3# 5# and 8#. I would like to see if we could incorporate my crawclicker in to some these fly for caddo.

You betcha Dennis. Just need to find some rabbit strips in those colors. Let me have a look and see what's out there.

Oh please tell us what scared ya on using the heavier flies. I hope you didn't get hooked by one. I have embedded a treble hook all the way in my finger once by the nail...and it put the fear of God into me. I cannot tell you how much it hurt, unless you have done it and you know....
I agree with ya, Mike's flies are HOT. I cannot believe he just started making these things. He must have a ton of natural talent.

oh, as far as hooked storied i got a better one than a topwater! but no "i got skeered" as in the expression "i no longer wish to fish with" because i hate throwing topwaters that weigh a pound... that's all.. they LOOK great but they cast oh so terrible...

if you want something long with big profile, but is very light and easy to cast, long hackles work real good.

Actually that bug is patterned after one by Jack Ellis from his book "Bass on a fly rod"...the rabbit strip is very thin, while it looks substantial dry, when wet it looks like a piece of string...it's not too bad to cast really, just wish I woulda caught something on it...oh well..eventually

popcorn2 Well, that is a relief. Glad you didn't get hooked, it hurts like hell tryin to pull one out. I pulled the treble hook out, should of pushed it through, then cut it off. I thought I was gonna have to go to ER. But I toughed it out with the help of a couple of pain killers, even then it hurt. I pulled it right up through the meat of the finger...and it took a long time to finally work it out of there. I was pulling very hard, and when it came out, it went sailing through the air and landed in the next room. No, I am not telling a tall tale either, that really happened....so I am a little hook shy to this day.

Kelkay if you want to know what LHD means, get ya an old sock, tie it to the end of your fly line , soak it in water and try and cast it. That's pretty much what casting bunny flies is like!

I'm heading up to Minnesota next week to do just that cuz apparantly that's what those crazy Pike want.

Pike or Muskie fishing sure looks fun to me. Those things are vicious though...LOL...be careful.
