Hey guys I'm heading to San Angelo for a couple days next week and will have some time to do some fishing wile I'm their. I was looking at the tpwd web page and noticed this little lake has some walleye in it. Since it's been a while since I've caught an eye I though I'd give it a try. Can any one give me a little help here. Like is it worth it? Or am I just pissing in the wind. Any help or suggestions would be grate.

Thanks Dean

Big D,
The lake dried out really bad prior to the good rains in previous years - it was re-stocked w/bass after it filled back up, dunno bout walleye. I don't think there's any left...

Runnels County Bass club members read this forum also,so maybe they'll respond with more current info.

Call the City Water Dept - most of those guys grew up around there and fish religiously.

good luck.

Thought about doing that but I'm really looking to catch some walleye.

If walleye are what you're really after you might have to travel a little father up in the panhandle. Twin Buttes received some walleye from tpwd years ago and I think Ivie did too but, with the droughts and lower lake levels over the years it's doubtful any are there, if there are they won't be in any number.

Lake Fort Phantom Hill which is just 10-12 miles north of Abilene is stocked with Walleye and Sauger. I think the lake record is around 6 lbs. Haven't heard of any reports in a long while but ckeck with the locals and perhaps they can tell you more. Hope that helps a little.

If you want to catch some walleye, Moss Lake in Big Spring has them in it. They are hard to catch. Big Spring is about 85 miles north of San Angelo down HWY 87..
