academy go them in a few days ago. dont know who all has tried these reels out yet. but for the price $179 it seems to be a hell of a deal. bought 2 of them today and all rigged upa and ready to go. just have not got to fish with them yet. they even look better than last years model and seem to wweigh less. but has anyone had the chance to try them out and have the insight on if they work as well as they look.

went outside and played with mine last night. Just flipping around in the yard. It was pitch black outside, so i didn't let it fly..will be playing with it at a pond this evening.

But, flipping it was effortless, and it seemed to spool out line easily, with just a small flip of the wrist.

Has anyone compared the new Curado E and Citica E's? I understand that both are made in Japan since they use the same frames.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but is there more "metal" on the "D" models than on the new Curado E and Citica E's?

What I have read today is the "E" models have graphic sides vs the "D" models that had metal sides. Is this their way to lighten the reel?

2.2 ounces lighter. for 2-5 pounds of drag- graphite is a very viable option. also wont get freezing cold in febuary. I hate changing reels when fishing in the cold.. once that metal reel gets warmed up with your hands- its nice to hold, but change to another and the freezing fingers syndrome starts all over. smile

Is it worth getting the "D" or the newer "E" models of the Curado and Citica?

I like some of the features of both the "D" and the "E".

It is a shame they couldn't combine all of the good points of both models into one!
