Went to Galveston between Pirate Beach and San Luis, surf fishing this past weekend. First cast on shrimp past the 3rd bar caught a BIG whiting. Thought it was a red for a bit. Got him in and weighed him. 2.30lbs. I'll have a picture posted later tonight. Caught on fresh dead shrimp. The fish was weighed, photographed and released healthy to grow some more.
Payne mine was bigger but like you missed by .02 for record . Caught mine off Galveston fishing Pier 4 months ago . SOB had a set of teeth you would not believe a whiting would have . I must admit thou I ate him . . Though I had a 5 lb red at first when he hit my dead shrimp .
