Buddy and I are going to target reds at cally for the 1st time. Have only fished for cats. Will be in a boat...any tips to catch #'s. Weather permitting, we are fishing Wed and Thurs after work. New at fishing for reds...any rigging tips, spots, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thought about paying a guide, but we are determined to try ourselves first. Will report our results daily.. thanks in advance!

I would troll along the dam with crankbaits or if you have downriggers I wiuld find deep schools of reds with your graph and catch them using spoons. That is what I would do. Also, you could always use live crawfish.

Thanks sundown...I'm guessing anything resembling a shad or tilapia should work. I will let you know how it goes!

Fish the wall with live baits (catch shad or talipia with a throw net). Tie a talipia on and float it with a balloon as far as you're line will let you. The south wind will blow your rig out strait down the canal. Also, if they're in tight to the wall Storm 3 or 4 inch swim shad will do the trick.

Make sure you have bumpers for you boat especially if its glass.
