I know there was a post on here about the cost of rods in the past couple of day's so I wanted to share my experience.
I have been a loyal AllStar rod user for many years. I have always liked the way they feel and the price on most of them was reasonable. Well my AllStars have seen a lot of miles in the boat and the truck and I have had the porcelein(sp) in the eyelets break on several recently. Over the past year I have purchased G-Loomis, had two Texas Sidewinders built custom, a couple of American Rod Smiths and most recently purchased a couple of Falcon Lowrider worm rods.
I post all this to say, that you have to find the right rod for your personal likes and don't worry about what they cost. The Loomis rods by far was the most expensive, but I have fallen in love the the Falcon Low Riders. I got to fish with them this past weekend and they feel so good to me and fit my hands well and just overall really enjoyed fishing them. I went tonight and bought four more a couple more bait cast rods and a couple of shakey head rods as well.
I am making this long post to say that you need to fish a few rods and figure out what you really like and don't let the cost get in the way too much. The Falcon is a mid priced rod, but in my opinion fishes much better than the Loomis rod or any other others. Nothing against those rod makers, it's just I found my new rods, plus they are American made which is not the case for All Star anymore.
I still love my AllStar flipping rod though!
Can't wait for the weekend to take my Low Riders out for another run.
Sorry for the long post...

I have mostly Falcon rods and truly love them. I also agree they fish better than the more expensive rods, plus I am all for buying american.

I'm a LowRider fan as well. For the money I think they are the best value.

i have 1 cara and 2 falcon orginals, i think falcon makes the best rods for the money, the falcon orginals are the tuffest rods out there period, i have 1 orginal that is 5 years old and none of the eyes or the glue around the eyes is messed up. im trying to switch all my rods to falcon.

I just counted the rods and I've got 22 Falcon rods! I just started buying them in the mid-80's and never got rid of any (intentionally, anyway... a couple went overboard in various mishaps).
What I currently have in the boat is 3 Experts, 2 Caras, 3 Lowriders, and one Original. It's a mixed bag but generally the Lowriders are heaviest and used for T-rigging, C-rigging and jigs. The Experts and Caras are used for horizontal baits and weightless or light-weighted plastics.
The Falcon Expert is a wonderful rod. To me it feels light and sensitive like a Kistler (a good rod fer sure), but I've never broken a Falcon and I've busted the tip off two Kistlers.

I have 1 Lowrider, 1 Expert, 2 Caras, and 2 T7s. Wouldn,t get rid of any of em. Plus, if you ever have any kind of problem; I broke the tip off one in a fluke incident with a 3 lb bass, Mark Perry is very helpful and quick to respond!Never see service like that anymore.
