well rained all day but winds were calm and I had the day off with the boys so I went out to grapevine after lunch today and sure glad we did. There was exactly 1 other boat on the water for most of the afternoon. Since it was calm and no skiers on water we decided we would go try around the dam for a change. All I can say is WOW! Fish everywhere and we killed them. Caught way more than 100 sandies along with a couple catfish and a few black bass. Caught them on slabs, jigs, topwater, you name it and we caught fish.

Sure felt good to have a day without the skiers even if it rained off and on all day. We fished for about 4 or 5 hours and then called it quits with fish still biting really good.

yep it was so nice to fish the dam without ski boats and jet skis buzzing around. Amazing how it changed the fish too. They were hitting topwater good in the middle of the day around bubbles and on either side out 100 yards or more. We also were catching bigger fish down deeper on slabs and even picked up a nice pair of blues on slabs between bubbles and marina in about 40 feet of water.

I'm sooo jealous. We were out there last Tuesday and caught about 25-30, but only kept 7 between 11 & 15 inches. and one cat. We tried again on Saturday, but didn't get a single bite. Not going to be able to get on again until Labor Day weekend. Don't think there will be much of a chance of getting on the water without skiers then.

Nice Oldrock! Glad you got those boys into the fish. They didn't even have to get up early!

Not bad today, 300 on the clicker kept 39. Also caught 18 cats plus 1 blue that went 15lbs. All on Humdingers and live bait. My buddy just couldn't stay off the shad.

Generally, when I slab I just drop it to the bottom and raise it up about 6-12" and let it drop keeping contact with the slab so you can feel a hit as it drops. About 90% of the hits will be on the drop. You can also cast it out and just reel it in slowly bumping it off the bottom. The clicker is just a counting device used to keep track of numbers. Good luck and let us know how you do. thumb
