Should make for some record 3 fish stringers this year... Gonna be awesome... Can't wait to kick it off with a gathering NTTC style... What's up with 3 fish? Not gonna be 5 like usual?

Nope, 3 fish stringers. I like that even better, it's gonna make it a heck of a showdown.

i agree...it's also tougher to keep em strong in the heat and I like moving up the last event and starting earlier, just like to see the last one in April. W/ only 3 fish it's gonna be more important than ever to be on the bigguns!

I went to their web page and clicked on the first tournement for lewisville, and it shows a map of Lavon. I don't know, but they might need to change it.

It might not be the best lake in Texas but it will show who the best fisherman. The tournament was changed to Cooper this year because there was a bass tournament on Fork. We would have some very close weights.

Just about everyone who fishes NTTC targets blues simply because they attain such a greater size than channels, and the blue population on Fork is VERY low. In fact, most I know change tactics to target channels on Fork. IMHO I enjoy tourneys where you have a legit chance to locate BIG blues even if the bite is slow. Fork and a few other lakes turn in to channel cat tourneys, and most I know wouldn't fish NTTC if it were a channel cat circuit. Again, just my opinion, but sticking to the lakes that have a nice blue population makes for funner tourneys and MUCH heavier weights. It's a hoot to see 2,3,4 teams break 200 lbs (on a 5 fish limit). If you've fished Tawakoni, Lavon, Lewisville, CC or RC then you know these make for a MUCH more enjoyable event and an all around better experience. And one tourney doesn't show who the best fisherman is. We've placed top 3 in events where we had a heavier weight that SEVERAL teams I know are flat out better and I would defer to their knowledge anyday. Point totals at the end of the year give you a better picture, but even then you have to keep in mind some awfully good teams don't make EVERY tourney.

Fork will get put back on the schedule, but not this year. There are blues in that lake, I have seen them.
I do agree with slewft though, an all around good catfisherman should be able to change approach, and come up with the heavy stringer whether it be channels or blues. It is nice to see big fish brought in, but can't happen all the time.

are you sure those blues you seen ain't male channelcat? male channelcat are blue-er than blue cat. usually when a lake gets bluecat in it then it's only a year or two before it gets overrun with bluecat as they'll stamp out the channelcat population ... not completely but in just a short while you'll catch 20 blues to one channelcat.

I am pretty good at distinguishing a blue from a channel. And if the ones that I have seen were channels they would be world records, cause some were over 50lbs.

I have caught a few of the male channels you are describing tiny, but to me they are not that close in resemblence, I don't know how so many people mistake them.
