Do all of them have a problem of the line wrapping around the hooks? I did not have the problem with the little georges nearly as bad.
But a plus they do catch fish, but miss fish when your reeling them in all jacked up.

bend the wire slighly up and feather it into the water. That will elimanate it. All tail spinners have that problem.

I found if you make sure the tail is straight out, it doesn't do that....if it points down to far, or up to far this happens...keep the spinner wire straight! And no problems!

Shorter casts make this problem go away - I have it happen when I'm going for distance.

If I am going distance cast I will always ease it in the water to keep them straight. I also try to keep the wire tail straight as possable due to the fact if it is bent they seen to roll and twist my line as I bring them in. I have also never seen a bait fish roll as it swims. ;-}

Any other brand do much better? I am going to go back to little georges they were not quite so back in my opion. Might be because the bodies are are deeper. I always go yard on my casts so....

I also bend the hook closed some. Makes the hook come out of fish easier too.

hundreds and hundreds of fish have seen no problem with them at the end of my line. It does happen on occassion, but the numbers of fish caught verses the number of fouled casts don't compare. de

Come to Lewisville and I'll teach you how to cast smile

99.9% of the time they work great for me.

Next time, it might be more beneficial to email the person making the lures, instead of ranting about your inability to cast correctly online. thumb

I'm sure Leroy could have given you some pointers in a private PM.

If your trolling the slabs he makes you need to use the top hook place ive found it works better than the nose hook up

huh our boat just goes to fast to troll so we have to set out our minnow bucket to help slow us down our stop and start (which does work)

hmmm I missed the part were I ranted? I believe this is a fishing forum were you talk about fishing and fishing related items. Thus my question about the humdinger. I thank you for your fine offer for casting lessons, but I will wait until you come out with an instructional video. Also I purchased them from an online store Fintribe (very happy with there service by the way)
So it would be nice if like everyone else you gave constructive advice or well..... keep with what your doing as well I only learn who will not be helpful and who is because as one member noted that if you dont throw them as far as possible they do not tend to tangle as much.(that I did notice) and another member metions feathering it into the water (which I will try as this might keep it straight in flight and limiting the spinning of the lure) As I also noted they Do catch fish.....

Regards,

Nice edit of your original post!

My video will be out next spring. Look for it a BPS. smile

You might not have been ranting, but you still could have emailed Leroy instead of making your post. Just my opinion.

Happy fishing!

I'm sure those Humdingers are great lures and I have been meaning to order some.

However, I have never gotten around to it and have done quite well with Little Georges. What I have learned lately is that the ¾ oz Little George seems to track better than the ½ oz. ones. I have been having the same problems with the ½ oz. Little Georges that you are talking about with the Humdingers. I have noticed that the ¾ oz. Little George doesn't tend to get out of whack and roll over and over as badly as some of the smaller ones do.

just like sand johnny said they all do it..it doesn't matter ..me and nogeese make the mice...leroy makes the humdinger they both catch tons of fish but if you grip it and rip it they both twist up. when someone figures out how to correct this problem they will own the world

The mice lure doesn't get tail hung nearly as much as a hummdinger. I gave my hummdingers away to the kid across the street. Will stick to the mouse as it catches a ton of fish for me.

Humdingers are OK but I hate taking off those hook covers.

I have noticed after a while that they do start to get twisted up in the line. This usually happens in the middle of a boil so i just take it off and put on another one. You will also see that the hook can sometimes get caught on the nose.

I know I am a little partial to the Mice since I fish with Butch but you might want to give those a try too. THey are just as good if not better than the humdinger and a little cheaper. Added bonus is that you don't have to take off the hook protectors.

Thanks Rookie, I am going to have to think they all do spin up. I would also like to note the question had nothing against Leroy the maker of the lure, I just wanted to know if this is standard as I used a few of the ones I ordered. I am going to change over to using them with my baitcaster and not pitch them so hard this should help...Spinning rod was just crazy bad on spinning them up. I did use my baitcaster when I used the little georges too sooo...that may have been why they acted better.
I do say support the small business man that is why I did buy from Fin Tribe/ well that and the cool sticker he sent with the order. The hook protectors rock I can reach into the tub I keep them in and only pull out one no clingers!!

I LOVE the hook covers. If the baits I have with treble hooks don't have them, I put them on before I sell. Saves my wife and I about a cup full of blood every month!!! And I bet there's a mailman or two out there that appreciates them and doesn't even know it!!!

Ditto, I appreciate the hook covers. Like Miss Manners said, just twist and pull. Makes them easier to get out of the packaging too. Jaydon, I received my order of mice last week in 2 days. I was shocked when it came in the mail Wed. A.M. and I had just ordered it Mon. late A.M. Thanks. clap thumb

Don't forget line twist. If you're using spinning gear, you may be using some lighter weight line. I know I have the snagging issue when I put my clients on the spinning gear with 6lb line. I only do that when I get caught in that situation. Otherwise, I have my spinning reels lined with 14lb line and it tones down the twisting a lot.

Just something else to check. Most of the time when I've seen this, it has been the long distance casters. Even on long distance, if you feather that cast at the end, it helps a lot.

I bought both Super Dingers and Humbugs. I like both and yes the dinger hangs up if I throw it sloppy. The reason it does better on longer casts is because it's slowing down before it hits the water-same as thumbing it down. Wind also makes them wind up.
I use a casting reel with 30# braid and I also put on a split ring and swivel to eliminate twist on all lures.

I love the hummdingers! If the tail is straight I can cast it for ever!!! I have used it in schooling fish and caught Hybrids!!I have trolled ( not deep) for fun with it and actually caught big whites an a few hybrids! If I don't get a good bite after two trys of my hummdingers, I get a bigger bait or throw or top water and catch all kinds of fun. Fish are just funny sometimes! That's why its fishing not catching!!! HAAHAA

If you don't like all the hooks clip the barb off two of the hooks...But I haven't had to many that eat all the hooks...just a few! I really like the bait and he will do custom colors for you, which is really cool...

Hummdinger nation brother. Use a three foot fluorocarbon leader(20#) with uni not. and 3/4 oz dinger all day long. FLat out fishes lil george every time. 1/2 oz dingers, mice, and sandblasters(strike king version) all twist if reeled too fast. Key words (too fast). If you use the 1/2 oz, you need not reel as fat as with the heavier ones any way. SLOW YOUR ROLL

I love the humdinger!! But to each there own! But there is good advise about how to use them in here. I have very little trouble with them and I have tried all other lures mentioned here, all good baits!! Maybe I just use the humdingers more, is why I like them and I like being able to order special colors!! But if they are not biting them, I try another lure...and that usally is all that is required. I love to fish and figuring out what they will bite is 1/2 the fun...Thight lines.

Sometimes you run into some "tuff" dudes here with "help", but don't take it to personally as they can be rough around the edges but SOMETIMES they have some good advice too! Tight lines.
And manners is a taught trait! ;}
