After the great event John Varner (and the many who helped him out) put on for these soldiers, I am excited to help organize one here at Lewisville. One important note: we realized the dates selected were on Labor Day weekend, so it has been changed. We are now running the actual day of fishing on September 6th. I am hoping to get a few other events lined up, and I am open to any and all suggestions. I will be contacting all of you individually who originally signed up for the event, but I hope everyone can adjust there schedules. Guys, this is an AWESOME thing we can do for some of the soldiers that have fought for our freedom. I can not tell you how fired up I am to do this. These soldiers are wounded soldiers, many of whom could really use a pick-me-up. And if I know the "Lewisville Crew" we are just the people to do it. We will show them a great time, and maybe catch some fish along the way.

Bob and I decided to change the date due to safety concerns for the boaters and the soldiers. A holiday weekend is not a good time to be out on the water with all the drunks and holiday recreation going on. Not to mention the issue of finding any rooms for the soldiers. We will be holding the event Friday the 5th, Saturday the 6th, and leaving Sunday the 7th.

This is where the guys and gals that wished they had participated get the opportunity to help out. Even the smallest thing helps out tremendously. Its a lot of moving parts but if everyone gets it all done then it comes together nicely. I get about 10 calls a day asking if the sign up roster has been posted yet. Its a great feeling to give these guys/gals something to look forward to.

I volunteered to help at Lewisville Lake and will adjust my schedule. What time on Friday will you need my help? I usally work until 8 pm on friday nights.

AMEN!!!! Especially Lewisville. Good move, I'm looking forward to it. That will give us another week for the artic cold front to come in . Will the boaters need to be there Friday? Or is that more for arrival, dinners and other events? Just need to know workin nights I have to schedule my time off.

Friday is the arrival time of the soldiers to whatever motel is cheapest. LOL usually the way things have been happening is we show up and get our rooms between 6pm and 8pm and meet with the coordinator and maybe a few boaters. On some occasions dinner was provided Friday night, early wake up and load up on the boats. Fish until lunch or fish fry time, awards, giveaways, pictures then dinner. Relax time, then off to bed and wake up, check out, role call, and back to Ft. Hood. Some have gone back out fishing before dinner. Later Mike

For the guys that have already singed up for Lewisville with the previous date YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESUBMIT. Bob already has a copy of your sign up forms and is just checking names off that have already signed up. If you could send him an email or a PM saying yes or no I am sure it will help him out with this whole process. Thanks guys for the understanding of the date change and I hope we get all the boats that signed up previously. If not we understand because schedules have been made around these dates.

Sorry I have not been updating everyone. I have had (and still have) some severe computer problems. As of today, I have 19 boaters signed up. BTW OUR SITE IS NOW A 501(C)(3) NON PROFIT PUBLIC CHARITY. ANY AND ALL DONATIONS ARE 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

We have a fund set up specifically for the Ft. Hood Wounded Warriors. This will ensure that the money donated to these soldiers STAYS here for these soldiers. I got tired of hearing about "lost" money or no money so my wife and I decided to do something about it. If you or your company would like to donate then please do so. We will have our online DONATE button up here shortly if you would like to wait til then thats fine as well.

The parent program Combat Warrior Crisis Network, will have several programs over time. One of them is to create a couples retreat for deploying/deployed soldiers. This will help the spouse to understand what their soldier is going thru. Also will help the transition back into the family smoother and hopefully keep families together after deployments.

It isn't an official study but the spouses are saying that their husbands lives are changing because of the fishing trips. We have worked hard and waited a long time for for our non profit status. Now you will see us make a difference!

It will be a different way to give because I will actually post pictures of things we have done for families so that you guys can see what your money is going to when it come to the soldiers! Ask one of those other charities to do something like that. LOL Its not a competition but I think we can do better than the other guy for sure. I work right up in the middle of the soldiers so I get to hear what they need and want. Later guys. MAN it is time to go fishing!!!

Whoa!!!! It worked. I can tell everyone we have a few things in the works, and several donors who have committed to this event. I will wait a little longer to get a few more things firmed up before I start announcing things. But for now, we ARE fishing Saturday. I can't wait for this event.

I have not posted much because I am waiting on a few things to be confirmed. Please be patient with me folks. I have started the "stay-at-home" dad thing with my kids, running my guides' business, having computer issues, and just running out of time in a day. I can tell you that there are several people working on several different things, and there have been some GREAT prizes donated for the soldiers.
