my favrite light weight rod for cats is the ugly stik lite
its is very sensitive too

For light duty...either my Abu Cardinal 104 on a 7' MH spinning rod (awesome for corks) or my old Daiwa low profile on a 7'6" Ugly Stik Lite ML (awesome for punchbait).

For most of the cats 15 lb and under, I typically roll with my Bass Pro Extreme baitcaster; 12 lb mono on a 1-pc Berkley Cherrywood.

I just downgraded from a Shimano compre with a Daiwa gc100 to a good ol 7' MH shakespeare catfish combo and I'm very pleased.

the cherry wood is a good pole......lightweight and tough....also its $14.99 at academy. I recently acquired an all star and now thats my favorite.

i agree with the ugly sticks, but i have recently found a new favorite rod, H&H rods, not too expensive and realy nice
