I have house on Lake Limestone. Last night I had 12 Rod/Reels, 7 Bait Boxes and 2 Tackle Boxes stolen from my Bass Boat. The Boat was sitting on the lift at the boat dock. I normally don't lock up my poles when we are at the lake house. None of my neighbors have ever locked up their boats or had any problems. I have had plenty of stuff stolen in the past but there is something personal and very offensive about having my fishing stuff lifted.

They arrive by boat some time in the night and left a pair of flip flops on the dock. If you live or fish near Limestone, you better lock up all of your equipment.

I despise thieves.

That sucks ... I'm sorry you lost your stuff. I was just thinking about my boat which I leave at the marina with a tarp over it. It has about $200 worth of tackle in the back of it. I'd hate to have to start taking that home with me every time I go home ... it would be heavy and awkward .... your right. I too despise thieves. They are cowards. Skunking about in the dark covered in shame. The only thing I can be sure of, they'll never be able to come close to being at peace as the honest amongst us and never know a world of contentment ... maybe I should actually pity them.

Alan, sorry about your loss. I found out yesterday that there was another boathouse on Limestone that was hit last week. Hate to hear about all this. I've owned property here since the 80's and have never had a problem. Sign of the times I guess. There sure have been a lot of suspect ads for fishing tackle and electronics on Craigs List lately.

In spreading the word on this I heard from one of my neighbors that he had ~30 gallons of gas stolen from his boat. He heard a boat speeding away 2:30-3:00AM. Got up to look and determined the boat was running with no lights. He suspects these are the folks that lifted the gas.

Looks like I also need locking gas caps on my boats. Sigh.

There seems to be a crime ring on Lake Limestone.

When I hear about thieves like this, I don't really want to prevent them ... I want to identify and then catch them. There are bunches of infrared security cameras on the market place now. Feed one of those into an old Tivo box that is set to record a channel from 00:00 to 23:59 and repeats and you have a system. I'd love to hand over such video to the police and sit laughing at the back of the court room.

Word is....the worse the economy gets the more low-lifes will take to thievery. Shoot first ask questions later.

i think that all it will take would be for one of those low life pieces of trash to get 2 in the chest and 1 in the head and have the news cover it. i would bet the frequency of them would go down. that being said, would any type of insurance cover that?

wow thats very sad. I'd rather have them steal my car than my fishing stuff. You can have insurance on cars but I don't know about fishing stuff. first copper, now they're even stealing gas out of peoples boats and vehicles

Another distressing bit of information I found out today. You need to have a "fishing equipment" rider on your boat policy in order to have any fishing equipment covered. At least this is the case with Travelers Insurance. I had no idea about this and my angent never told me. My agent is arguing with Travelers on my behalf but I am not optimistic.

I suggest checking your boat insurance policy and make sure your fishing equipment is covered.

I also have a place on Limestone, been there for 18 years. I have not heard about this. What part of the lake did the thefts happen on?

check all the local pawn shops; that stuff will surface pretty quick; the dopeheads need the money.

My place is up Running Branch Creek. I found out about another fishing tackle theft in Oak Point, also up Running Branch.

I have now implemented many defensive measures on my dock and have received an insurance check.

The only upside is it is fun to shop for fishing equipment.:-)

I have a home in Summer Place and have friends in Oak Point. I'll pass the word to have everybody to keep an eye out for thieves. Hopefully these thieves can be caught.

A MOTION ACTIVATED INFRARED TRAIL CAMERA MOUNTED ON A POST IN THE BOAT SLIP IS WHAT CAUGHT OUR TWO THEIVES (TEENAGERS) AT A FRIENDS DOCK ON THE WEST SIDE OF EAGLE MOUNTAIN. WHEN ITS DARK YOU NEVER NOTICE IT ON ONE OF THE POLES AND SINCE IT USES IR YOU NEVER KNOW YOUR HAVING YOUR PIC TAKEN. NICEST THING ABOUT THE IR IS MOST TX NUMBERS SHOW UP GREAT IN THE PHOTOS. IF WE COULD GET PAWN SHOPS OUTLAWED IT WOULDNT STOP THE CROOKS BUT IT WOULD MAKE IT A LOT HARDER FOR THEM TO GET THEIR FIX.
