I have been digging up sprinkler valves for what seems the entire summer season this year. I have zones in my system that from time to time get iron deposits in it, and I have to dig it up and replace the valve.

Well today, after much digging, cussing, and trips to Lowe's, I finally have all of them working again. Almost too late to save any grass this year, but the trees are loving it.

Well you gotta get down to them first. I have replaced all with jartops, but these are old. The last zone I replaced today, #2, was what looked like an original. Plus, whoever tended to these in the past has done some creative plumbing below the ground.

From now on most should be able to be unscrewed and guts replaced.

I don't know what you can do about watering over in Southlake, but Flower Mound has just issued even more restrictive watering regulations. It's going to be a long hot and dry summer.

I water from a well, so we can do it 24 hours a day if we want. But the downside is the occasional iron chip that gets stuck in a valve, and the whole zone won't shut off until you shut off the feed.

Bad thing is we have to have a sign that states "Water from well". I like coolray's sign in his yard. It says. "Well water....get over it".

Maybe I can get a pic of it. Even though we water from a well, supposedly we can still receive a $2000 fine for not posting a sign, if a city official responds to a complaint by driving out. I hate city politics.

Who owns the well? Is it on your property? How did it get there? did you put it in? what level of cost are we talking? Is it a neighborhood thing?

Each home has a well that was dug when the homes were built in the early 80's. Water is about 90ft down, and everyone pulls from the same water supply.

Why not put a trap at the well and eliminate the problem?
