It seems since the two in NYC all of a sudden they are happening almost every week.

Is it operator error or are the cranes getting old enough that parts are breaking because preventative maintenance has not taken place?

i guarantee you that in NYC the accidents will be found to be caused by not bracing the tower of the crane correctly .
i have seen 2 cranes tump over before they ever made a pick. the outriggers were jacked up. they were set up buy guys with litle experience. the prima donna operators would not even get out & look at what was about to happen to them.
i bet i have been invoved in at least 2000 crane picks

i just think that there are lots of guys who don't have a clue, involved in major responsibilities now.

i respect the Granbury flathead record more though

Are you bragging or beotching?

I have been involved in at least 2001 crane picks and 300+ helicopter picks so I must be smarter and better at it then you right?

no not at all better
helicopter picks are easy

and setting HVAC equipment is a little different than structural picks.

you pretty comfortable with the guys out there rigging this for you?
