Fly fishing trip with Robin Rhyne on Caddo Lake
It just hard to pick anything out that was outstanding, because everything was first class. It started out Sunday afternoon, we all got there from 1:40pm to 2:30pm can got to know each other. Robin got there first around 1:40pm and made his way down to the boat ramp and Shady Glide Restaurant and had one of best Juicy home Hamburger in Uncertain Texas. Bill McBroom, Dearil Jackson they are the ARK-LA-TEX Sportsman Outdoor Show and Doug Rochelle from Texarkana TX., one of our camera boat. I made it in about 2;30pm and met up with Bill, Dearil, Doug and Robin. We all sat around talking about who, what, where & how, after about 3 hours of that most of us were getting hungry, down to the last one of us wanted fish, there is only one place to have fish on Caddo, that is Big Pine Lodge. After getting some of the best catfish, cole slaw and hushpuppies, no buddy went home hungry, after all that good food it look like everyone was getting sleepy so we deiced to meet at Fyffe Corner Grocery and that were we to meet our 2nd camera boat Shawn Moore form H&W Marine and make our way down to the Hwy 43 bridge boat ramp and put in to fish the upper end of caddo lake. Robin will have to let you in on what he fishing with, we keep him in the area were he could have a chance to hook up on bluegill, redear, warmouth, bass-lmb and my be a crappie. We really don’t know how many sunfish or small bass Robin landed. It was about half way in to our first day of fishing I gave him some info about the bait that I use here on Caddo, we go thru more than 75pks of these a year, he put some on one of this fly and he was off to the races, he did not believe that it would make that much differed.
Day two we were after big bass so we made our way out to the main lake area and fish around the island with deep water, that would be 5 -7 feet is deep for caddo. Fish cypress trees and Lil pads. We did have a lot of fish in the area, Robin got his Caddo Lake Record form the east side of big green in about 2 feet of water, we lost two or three good fish and Doug had one on a buzz bait, a nice 6.81 lbs. I hope this will open some eye to how good caddo fishing, and it can become one of the top fly fishing lake in Texas. I plan on doing more fly fishing when I’m out on Caddo Lake, I don’t know much, but if I don’t try it wont get any better.
We email all the photo to Robin.
Dennis North.

Dennis check out this site, it is a number of TFR fishing reports from Caddo, dating back to my first trip there in 2003. It amazed me that Caddo could be fly fished so successfully. Scroll down to the bottom and work your way up. http://www.texasflyreport.com/reports/details.aspx?id=160

With Robin help we are going to take my top bass, crappie, warmouth and bluegill lure color and use it for fly fishing lures. You can ask Robin what happen when he put it on one of his fly fishing lure.

Man I bet ya do good with them. I still can't believe how you just started tying flies like that. They should do the job, Mike. Let me know how ya do. I want to go, but don't think I want a canoe right now. Bank fishing is kinda tough there with a fly rod because of the trees. Think I will wait a while before I head out there.

Mike, If make it over this way, give me a date and we would like to see you in ACTION. Most of the time we keep scale in our boat, so if we catch a big one we can weight it. I'm going to keep a fly rod in my boat from now on. When no one is around I will pull it out.
