3trip report: Hit em Tuesday night, 7/22 between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM. Fished with good fishing buddy Herman Herrera, and we flat out waylaid em! A fish basket FULL of Mega 'Giils!! 8-10 inches each! At least 20 in the basket, and at least 30 more we released between 6-7 inches long! FAT, thick bodied bluegills, a few Green Sunfish,AND, DRUM ROLL PLEASE, 2 THICK BODIED, BEAUTIFULLY MARKED Tilapias, each in the 2 lb plus range!

Their downfall was the blue/white/red "Patriotic" TriColor MicroTube jig, impaled on a 1/32 nd oz UNPAINTED jig head, tossed out on Trilene XL 6 lb test, off an ultralite spinning rig!

I fished cast and retrieve w/o a bobber, Herman used a slip cork, with the jig barely a foot below the float, and both methods proved deadly! Some of the mega gills were still full of eggs! The bull bluegills were in full spawn colors!

Awesome!

July 23: 9:15-10:45 PM, went by myself, called Ryno(the irving one--there's two!) but got no answer! Managed 25 hefty gills, and 3 respectable bullheads! No Tilapia tonight.
Red/blue/yellow skirt TriColor MicroTube jigs, on a 1/32nd oz, UNPAINTED jig heads took all the credit on this night!

July 24: 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM, only 20 tonight, mixed bag size wise. maybe 10 Mega gills, one HUGE Greenie, no bullhead, no Tilapia! Bite was definitely on tonight, bite or hookup on every cast for about 30 straight minutes, including first cast of night with a mega gill the result!

Went back to the "patriotic" TriColor MicroTube jig on the same rig as always!

Trying to post pics but having trouble emailing them out of my cell phone!

Any light to help you out, or were you using night-vision goggles?

Visor lights and reading glasses helped last time I tried night fishing, but that was just for closeup work. I still couldn't see where I was casting or watch my line.

Over 40 eyes are not a good thing.

Urban puddle. Street lights and parking lot lights gave off enough reflection to see ok. No need to see the line, as i am in constant contact with it, and the rod is so sensitive, if a fish just breathes on my jig i can feel it!

Think hard, the hint is Tilapia.

Crappy, but here goes! Remember, no flash on my cell phone and light is at a premium there at night, especially when no full moon is available. What you are going to allegedly see is in the first pic, a legitimate bull bluegill, fat, healthy and ready to fertilize some eggs. This was last Thursday night. The second pic is a MASSIVE green sunfish, also fat and ready to spawn. The tilapia pics were total disasters so i did not even attempt to put em on here.

I admit the camera angle kinda blows em up, but i am here to tell you that it is still a too legit to quit bluegill! close to if not at a pound!

This greenie, if anything, was as big or bigger than the gill! Right at a pound or so, and in the 10-11 inch range. Same thing with the camera angle, first to admit it, but a dandy any way you slice it!

I do have some good news though, I now have a digital camera, courtesy of my benevolent benefactor, who shall remain nameless! flash and everything so quality should rise sharply soon!!
