Decieded to give the Catfishing a honest trip this morning.
I had Danny Kings, Big Marvs, Liver, 1 perch and some frozen shad in the bait cooler.( No DosXX, to early for me)
Hit the ramp at 6:30 and could tell it was going to a packed crazy day on the water. There was a group camped at the boat ramp, A guy working on his motor at the ramp and another boat the people had no idea what they where doing. Got on the water finally and ran up river to a flat next to the river channel.

Fished there 45 minutes and and moved up river to a cove mouth. After 30 minutes of nothing I was thinking "another Canyon day"

Moved farther back into the thicker cover and dirty water and set out a float with Liver.

Started to rig my second rod and looked over to see my rod doubled over. Fish On! It was a stong fighting 3 lbr. Sweet.

Started fishing 3 rods with floats and caught 4 more in that spot. Wind changed and I moved in the cove and caught 2 more.
Moved once more and caught another. At 10:30 I ran out of Liver. I had 2 bites from 10:30 - 12:00, one on DK and one (strong hit & run) on perch. Seven keepers in a morning was not to bad for me.
Got back to the ramp to find it packed (with dummies)

These fillets had no yellow streak. Pure white meat.
Liver caught 4 and DK/Blood caught 3.
Shad and Big Marv's got 0 bites.
The perch got hit but no hook-up.

Thanks fishinnb, although I did not find your spot your tips helped me find this spot and the confidence to fish shallower water.

glad to hear it. we tried some live bait on fri and caught a couple of blues, but couldn't keep the gar off the minnows.
the bait store by cranes mill has some great jumbo minnows.

i do recognize the second spot with the runoffs and road. we move around that general area and have had no need to run further up the river.

A buddy of mine dives out there, and he tells me that the catfish are so thick that he has to shew them away. They eat tortillas right out of your hand. He says they are huge. This would be at the sunken city.

He hasn't seen any bass though, but our next time out we are diving at the spots we catch all our bass.

Crumple Crome.
Should of stuck with your origianl "cat" plan the other day.
Don't you work on Fridays?
We have Dolly a comin, but I would like to hook up some day.
It may be your boat. Mine was real hard to start and didn't sound right. I need to check it out before I get stranded out there.
I'll PM you if I can go.
PS: Way to early for DosXX that early.

tamale- No, they are not thick or easy to find. For me anyway.
And I have no idea where this cemetary is.

Cool. Ya I need to catch some cats, seems like the hunt for bass gets me going though. I'm off fridays, I work 4 nights a week for a research company. Just can't stand all the nuts out on the water on the weekend so I usually go on Fridays. My boat is good to go just let me know when ya want to hit the water.
