Does anyone use a boat sling in their boathouse?

Somehow mine is no longer level...the stern is 6-8 inches higher than the bow, so I won't use it this way and put the boat on the trailer for the week.

Does anyone know how to correct this? We're at RC so if you know someone who has experience with boat lifts, slings etc. please let me know. If you have repaired this situation please let me know how you did it. Thanks!

Sounds like the cable is not winding up level on the shaft. If this is the case, it is a pretty easy fix. Just let the lift most of the way down. (till the coiled cable is all on a single level) Then when you go back up with it just guide it along.

If you will fill 4 fenders with sand and secure one to each end of tour slings it will keep tension on the cables and they will lay close to the shaft when the weight of the boat is off.

I use a broom stick as a leval wind to get the wire to coil up as a single layer. Once its set with the boat in the sling, the weight of the boat adds some memory to the wire and it seems to work ok, only needing adjustment every now and then. I've had to tighten the lug nuts on the wire too, they can slip. Remeber to stand in the middle of your boat so that it's leval when the sling catchs and starts lifting your boat.

Thanks DR

I'm thinking about loosening those bolts on each side of the front strap and pulling 4-6 inches on each side and re-tightening nuts. Then re-load boat. Don't think I have anything to cut the excess cable.....

Should this work....or should I be concerned about doing this myself?

That's the way to do it,if your cable is not cross wound.
