Started at about 7:00am, found fish hitting shad on top about 300 yards South of RP. Chased them for a while, picked up about 8 keepers. Birds started diving on them, but in about 15-20 minutes it was over. The school was every bit half the size of a football field. Very neat to see. All were caught on TNT Magnum Magnets, I think they were 1oz. My son caught some on a 1oz chartreuse/white slab (generic).

I couldn't locate the school or get any more hits on slabs, so we moved North to the Eastern I30 bridge. Found a small boat show near the West side of the bridge, so we used the trolling motor to get within range of the action (carefully as not to obstruct the other guys). We picked up another 4 on the TNT and a Little George (blue/white), but were quite a bit bigger than the ones from the school in the open lake. End of the day we had a dozen decent sandies and one Blue that tried to eat my TNT slab (silly catfish, slabs are for bass...)

While no limits were caught, my son (14) and I had a great time on the water and had more than enough for dinner for me and all the kids.

Just an edit to point out, the slab I was using was not the Magnum Magnet, but the TNT 180. I couldn't remember and had went to Byrons website to see which one it was and looked at the wrong picture title. It was the 180 in holographic, to be specific.

Now I'm pumped again thinking about fishing, yet I'm supposed to be working... geez.

Good luck all.
