Was out on the lake between 2:00pm and 8:30pm. Sulla12 accompanied me and I think we had a lot of fun. We trolled for some sandies in front of the island ... landed a few. Next I tried a spot that was reported to be good for catfish in 30 feet ... we fished there for about 40 minutes and got nothing. Next we tried catfishing against the shore of the island ... again nothing. Next we went into the cover by the power station. Nice and peaceful there but nothing biting. For some fun we went to the shad dock and played with the cast net for a while ... that worked ok. Finally we went and moored up in a bay to the east of the dam and finally managed to get on a decent number of channel cats which ended the evening well.

From a bait perspective, I had harvested some bluegill on Friday, filleted them and stick the fillets in a ziplock. I then left the zip lock in the sun for 2 days. When I opened them to use as bait (thinking they would be ripe) I had failed to appreciate just *how* ripe they were. Dear goodness ... I gagged and couldn't sensibly fish with those because of the odor. Secret 7 proved to be of no benefit. When we got to the cove at the end of the day, I pulled out my "never failed yet" luncheon meat ... and it worked a charm.

This outings mishap was a propeller strike with my boat being in way too shallow water that has bent one of the flukes horribly. At low speed, the boat has a horrible shudder. I plan to replace the prop as soon as possible.

I had a great time Kolban. We didn't get into as many sandies as I had hoped, but it was good fun anyhow.

Sent ya a pm on my availability for helping with the prop.

When ya get a chance check out my pics under the rough fish/carp section, Marine Creek Carp Fishing.
