If you have a boat, the end of the north jetty would be great. I hear they are tearing up the trout. If not, then The Lighted Pier at the end of the Texas City Dike or the pier at Seawolf Park on Pelican Island are both good places. As far as bait, live or dead shrimp are both good. Live is better on Speckled Trout under the lights at night on a treble hook 24" under a popping cork. Pin Perch, Croaker and Whiting are great for Bull Reds. High Island is a great surf fishing spot. Also the north side of San Luis Pass is the ticket for Sharks. Be prepared for a long fight though, they get big down there. At the beach at SLP be VERY aware of the current. It can get quite strong. Whole whiting, whole mullet or dinner plate size stingray for sharks. Email me at doubledextremetackle@yahoo.com for more tips and tackle.

If the wind is calm, the trout run Port A along Mustang Island very well during the summer. If you have a small boat, Brown and Root flats produce trout and reds. I much prefer Port A to Galveston/Freeport. It's worth the extra few miles. The ship channel is always good if you have boat that time of year. If you are wading, try the Rockport area: Italian Bend, Little Bay, & St. Charles Bay near The Big Tree are all good choices. There are a ton of good fishing spots in that area, pretty much within 30-40 minutes of each other. If you have a PB, your choices are greatly expanded.
