I am considering tradeing my Humminbird 997c SI for a comprable priced Lowrance. Graph with transducer, box and manual,no gps antenna. Excelent condition on my boat since January. Before you ask ,yes I love the SI , but I have 2, one on the console and one on the bow, I Want to put a lowrance up front so I have the features of both. If interested send me a message or call me @ 469-955-3128, If you already have a humminbird with GPS I will also have an interlink box available when I change the bow unit. JVON

A 997 is a top of the line state ,of the art unit, I have no worries with reliability.

It works great moving straight @ about 2 to 3 mph, however I find I use the console more for the SI and searching.

Texas boy, first welcome to the forum, and second four years ago I would have agreed with you,BUT times have changed and hummingbird and lowerance are going in different directions, the 997si is so far ahead of any lowerance you wont to put up agianst it that there is no compairison, the only drawback to the 997si is its 2D graph,it is somewhat less than the lowerance which is why a lot of guys are running the lowerance up front on the TM,this would be a great unit for someone although I would hook the gps up for being able to mark waypoints in sidescan mode and return to them in nav mode,a free bump for you anyway jvon.

i run a 997si on the bow and its priceless for me... worth every penny. I run a 957c up front so I can network the two together. I find both to be superb in showing me what I need to see.

Skeeter ronnie,I wish I was rich like you I am a poor boy and have a garmin up front along with a flasher which I still prefer for close work like brush piles,my point was that sombody needs to check out the new hummingbirds before making a negitive statement about them.
