Anyone see the spot on the company that helps negotiate reduced payments to help those in peril of foreclosure?
Notice anything about the folks looking for help?

I missed it. What should we have noticed about the folks looking for help?

Let's just say there were no Anglos there. It just shows how ruthless the lenders were and how vulnerable many people were. You certainly can't blame folks for wanting a piece of the American Dream. One woman said" We thought we were getting a 30 yerr fixed, but ended up with $5000 a month, interest only.
The folks helping figured they could afford $3000/month and were preparing that offer to the lender.

Why does it matter that there were no Anglos?

Wouldn't be selective editing and carefully crafted showmanship at all? I know of a few Anglos that had at least a dozen homes between them foreclosed playing flip that house and when the music stopped....no le afforda mortgages.

I'm not sure how a scam occurred when closing involves reading and signing everything. Maybe there should be a literacy test before you can buy a house.

While there may not have been any "Anglos" on the show, that doesn't mean a thing. I actually went shopping for houses today. The first house I looked at was a foreclosure and the people that are getting kicked out are "Anglos." That is true with a bunch of houses I have looked at. There are tons of people that purchased more than they could really afford - white, black, brown etc.

I was pointing out that unscrupulus lenders were taking advantage of people of color.

Isn't that a federal crime?

Anyone who didn't take the time to read what they were signing was not taken advantage of. It does NOT matter what you've been told, what is on the contract is what matters plain and simple. When I was in wireless phone sales, rarely would people read the contract they signed. I could have told them they would get a date with Rosie O'Donnell every month if I had wanted to. I didn't, but I could have....I did, however, go over the contract thoroughly with them and had to sign a paper stating that fact or I'd have been fired.

Yes people lie, unfortunately, business ethics are no longer the norm, but the exception. However, it is the home purchaser's responsibility to read what he/she/they sign.
