I went night fishing Friday night and couldn't find any sandies. I fished the humps where I normally have good luck, during the day, and only saw tiny schools of bait fish on the graph. I was using a greenlight I built with live bait and slabs. I am also wondering if it was caused by the full moon. I got on the water at 1 AM, maybe I was too late? My first time at night so I have alot of learning to do.

Helps, and thats my personal experience. You'll see post on this that say, I don't worry about the moon, just go fishin. I do that also, but I plan my vacations around the full moon periods.

This is my thinking: 3-4days before, 10-11am, then again from 9-10 pm. then it gradually moves up an hour or 2 from each days major feed. Nothing scientific about my findings, other than that is my experience. Its not 100% I've had bad days during full moons but the better ones far out weigh those.

I went this past Saturday night and the wind was up and the moon was full. I found that I catch more small ones when the moon is full.

I did take my oldest son with me. It was his first time night fishing so I didn't mind the small ones. We did both catch our first gaspergoo. I was worried about taking him but he enjoyed night fishing much better then when I drag him around the lake during the day.

I've always heard that the day after a full moon is likely to have the best action late morning to middle of the day. A guide told me one time that he has seen this enough to know it's not just coincidence. Pretty much what sandbasscamp said.
