I know it's the funniest one of the day, week and month, fo sho!

Fished at Ray Hubbard this morning early until about 10 a.m. then took out. Took the long way thru Terrell (205 to 80 then east to Rockwall Ave. so I could see if the price of gas went down at Brookshires since yesterday).

About two blocks from my left turn onto Rockwall Ave. off 80, this kid in his beat up car whips out across the east bound 2 lanes of 80 and ducks into the center left turn lane. Why do people think this lane is a "safety lane" for then to occupy until they get a clear passage into traffic? WHY? Anyway, I'm in the left lane of the 2 east bound lanes and had to move to the right just to make sure his intentions weren't something else. The bastage was talking on the phone.

I then got in the left turn lane at the Rockwall Ave. stop light and the kid pulls up beside me on the right, oblivious to anything going on around him and flappin' his jaws over that phone. So I rolled down the passenger side window and hollered at him. He rolls his down and I tell him to get off the phone and drive before he has a wreck. He says "F*** you."

The left hand turn arrow goes green for me and I start moving. So does he and hits the car in front of him. The other two lanes were still under red. I heard the crunch as I turned, then I pulled into the alley behind the gas station and parked. Got out and went back to the scene. He and the lady he hit were parked along the curb on the east side of the intersection, so I walked across 4 lanes of 80 and he says "What do you want?"

"I just want to make sure the lady is ok and that phone isn't really a growth on the side of your head."

Again he says "F*** you" and I tell him he's not quite man enough yet. He and the lady trade information and he drives off. I gave the lady my name and phone number as a witness and I asked her if she was alright. She was and then she said "He was talking on the phone wasn't he?" I confirmed that he was.

The punk had long hair and one of those winter-time type toboggan hats pulled down over his head and ears - the real cool type dude, okay. It appeared to me to look exactly like he really did have his head shoved up his poo chute with that tan colored toboggan on.

That's my funny moment for the day and week and I'm sticking to it.

redfin, you did the right thing on making sure everyone was ok. I guarantee the kid thought nothing of it. He was a punk before the incident and even afterwards. The insurance is probably in someone else's name and this is most likely not his first incident, nor his last...for now.

He gave her his insurance info - whether it's current or not is another story. Anyway, a cell phone produces a major distraction while driving a moving vehicle. Then at the stop light, while still talking on the phone and possibly becoming angry with my comment which further distracted him from his primary focus of driving, my vehicle moved on my signal light and being overloaded with lots of incoming karp, his instincts took over and he hit the gas when he shouldn't have.

The lady was really nice about it all, even though she was upset about the cell phone thing. Had it been me instead of her that got hit, the kid would probably be sweeping the pieces of his phone up off the highway...

And people wonder why I no longer like kids.

I'm afraid I'll kill one. Or two.

If he would have told me "FU" one more time, I was gonna offer him the first 5 swings FREE of charge, then he'd feel some pain.

You are much more tolerant about that than I, redfin. I once chased three punks several miles for flipping me off. They got hung in traffic at a light and I removed one from the back seat, and got his attention after I tossed him "rather harshly" on the trunk of their car.
